Job Title: Production Manager Coatings Operations

 

Skills Required

  • Excellent knowledge in the science of manufacturing, specifically in the areas of pretreatment and mechanized powder coating processes
  • Excellent understanding of chemical processes, especially associated with powder coating, and painting product finishes including the establishment of new lines
  • Able to troubleshoot and improve powder coating and paint processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people in a changing environment and manage assigned areas working to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics.
  • Strong supervisory skills and the ability to motivate and work well with others while remaining unbiased and fair in all personnel related actions.
  • Must have strong multitasking skills and the ability to perform in a high paced environment.
  • Experience with purchasing capital equipment and management of projects.
  • Strong teambuilding and interpersonal skills; conflict resolution experience desired.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in working with and understanding ISO requirements, AS9100 is preferred.
  • Experienced in the use of Word, Excel and ERP type production, costing, inventory control and purchasing system.
  • Experience with an MRP system, six sigma and 5S, is desired.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Physical - proficient in using a PC keyboard. Requires ability to physically move about the manufacturing floor with or without accommodation. Requires good visual acuity to determine effectiveness of coating processes. Ability to travel 4-6 weeks/year.

Level of Responsibility and Authority

Responsible for all shifts of Latitude Corp.'s Powder Coating and Paint Operation in Verona Including meeting production deadlines and managing assigned manufacturing employees. Additionally, responsible for providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to Latitude Corps Coating/Paint Operation in Tucson, AZ. This position is expected to help set the vision and execute strategic plans and direction, lead change efforts, and motivate teams to achieve established goals. Authority to hire and fire employees subject to company policies. Authority to place purchase requisitions as needed for the day to day operation of the plant, as well as manage assigned budget. Manage capital equipment projects and identify capital equipment needs for area.

 

Job Duties

  • Manage and develop assigned manufacturing personnel..
  • Determine manpower requirements to most efficiently produce product and meet production deadlines at all coating facilities.
  • Design and implement process improvements and work with Engineering to develop the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure that chemical titrations are checked and that other processes are working properly so as to produce a good product.
  • Work closely with Quality Manager/Engineer to ensure quality and AS9100 standards are met and upheld in all assigned manufacturing areas.
  • Work with Tucson Production Manager to ensure coating/paint line is working properly and efficiently. Provide technical support, when needed.
  • Ensure all employees work safely and all hazardous conditions are eliminated.
  • Review production schedules and ensure output meets required deadlines.
  • Ensure the process outputs meet or exceed the quality requirements.
  • Ensure cross departmental communication, both verbal and written, is accurate and effective.
  • Supervise and monitor department employees; including hiring, terminating, performance evaluation, training, work allocation and problem resolution.
  • Responsible for inventory control, including monthly physical and/or cycle counts in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Work with HR to ensure that areas are adequately staffed to meet the demands.
  • Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure directives of the Plant Manager, VP of Operations and Business Development and President are carried out throughout the organization.
  • Ensure continuous improvements and corrective/preventive actions are carried out, planned and implemented in all departments.
  • Assist with manufacturing process difficulties, i.e. tooling, drawing requirements and interpretations to ensure effective corrections and implementation.
  • Ensure adequate supervision is present in the plant, including weekends and other non-traditional workdays.
  • Ensure government requirements and regulations are followed.
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

 

Pay Classification: Exempt

 

Education and Experience Requirement

Experience in high volume low to medium mix manufacturing with a focus in Powder Coating of metal parts. Seven years' manufacturing experience and 5 years supervisory experience required, a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.
